Year 1 - Pelicans and Swans
Autumn 1
Our topic was Planes, Trains and Automobiles! This is what we have been up to:
This half term we have been, authors, mathematicians, scientists, geographers, artists, engineers and explorers.
In maths, we have been ordering numbers and making number tracks with the equipment. We have also been Number Ninjas and used 'whole part' model to explore fact families.
In Phonics, we have been learning about split digraphs and tricky words. We even got to use water guns outside to identify them!
For our English work, we explored the story, 'Emma Jane's Aeroplane' by Katie Haworth. We had to write an alternate ending to the story and then we shared what we had written on our special story telling chair.
We have been looking for clues in Forest School to see if the Schnowser has been around. The Schnowser is the cousin of the Gruffalo and we so excited to see if he had been roaming through our school. We are very happy to report that we did find lots of clues and some of us even found his bed! We thought we would give it a try to see how comfortable it was.
As part of our Geography work, we have been learning about the United Kingdom and being able to find and name the four countries on a map. We have also been learning about the weather and seasons too.
