Year 2 - Herons and Kingfishers
This term we have enjoyed reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Lauren Child, You and Me By Anthony Browne and The Bug Hotel by Libby Walden. Through our Science topic and The Bug Hotel book we have been inspired to take our learning outdoors.
In Science we learnt about habitats and microhabitats around the school. We had great fun finding minibeasts and bugs around our environment and made pictograms to record how many we had seen.
In History we have learnt about Important People like Florence Nightingale, Rosa Parks and David Attenborough.
This half term we have been learning about place value, addition and subtraction. We have used a variety of equipment to help us understand how to represent number and amounts.
To accompany the season of Autumn and to link it to the Great Outdoors we learnt about Andy Goldsworthy and his land art and had a go ourselves. The children produced some amazing pieces of natural art!
